If you have had a sunburn in the past month, please do not proceed with scheduling a spray tan. Spray tanning on skin that has had recent sun exposure will result in a splotchy, uneven tan. Even if peeling has subsided, we recommend waiting an additional 2-3 weeks before receiving a spray tan. Spray tan solutions do not absorb properly on damaged or dehydrated skin. If you show up with a visible sun burn, we will not proceed with your service.

Before & After Care

In the week leading up to your spray tan: +EXFOLIATE. The more you exfoliate your skin in the shower during the days leading up to the tan, the more even your tan will be. This is the best way to get rid of dry, dead skin cells. Stay away from oil-based exfoliators. Ideally, exfoliate for 3-5 days leading up to your tan, followed by moisturizer. Then, in the shower prior to your tan, exfoliate and do not apply any lotion. +SHAVE OR WAX. Shaving with a new razor after your appointment is fine! However, no no no to waxing after your tan. We recommend waxing at least 24 hours before your appointment so the skin has time to settle. If shaving prior to the tan, it's ideal to shave at least 6 hours before to ensure the pores have enough time to close and don't over-absorb the tanning solution. +MANI & PEDI. If you are planning on getting your nails done, always get them done before your spray tan! Also, if you are getting your nails done the same day as the tan, *make sure* they do not use lotion or oils on your skin. Your skin must be completely clean before the tan. +ALL OTHER BEAUTY TREATMENTS. False lashes, facials, and all other treatments need to be completed 24 hours before your tan. Right before your appointment: 1) Exfoliate in the final shower before you tan (night before or day-of) 2) No lotion on your body 3) No deodorant on your body 4) No face makeup 5) No perfumes on your body 6) Bring something dark and loose to change into afterward. We recommend long pants, an oversized shirt, long sundress, and flip flops. The more you're covered up, the more protection you have from outside elements and rubbing.

+Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Use a PARABEN-FREE lotion daily. We also recommend Zuma Tan extending lotion to increase longevity (available for purchase). +Hydrate. Drink plenty of water to prevent dryness. +Avoid excessive heat such as saunas, jacuzzis, hot baths/showers, hot yoga. +Avoid spending long periods of time in water. If you are going on vacation, limit long soaking periods in the pool or ocean. Keep showers cool and short +Always use sunscreen. Spray tans to not provide any UV protection. Lotion-based sunscreens (no aerosols) are preferred for tan longevity. +Use a *fresh* blade for shaving. +Avoid Dove Soap. This can throw the pH level of your skin off and cause a streaky, splotchy tan. Try and use a natural alternative or pH neutral body wash.

The period right after we tan you is the most critical for "being careful". This will be for 2-4 hours for express solutions or 8-24 hours for standard solutions before you will take the first shower.

Before this first shower:

+DO NOT GET WET! Be careful of rain, pets licking, dishes, drinks, food, etc. Anywhere that gets wet before you shower for the first time will come out a different color and result in a blothcy tan.

+Avoid sweating (even light perspiration).

+Do not apply makeup, deodorant, perfume, or any product on your skin.

+Do not touch palms or fingers to your body to avoid tan hands.

+Wear loose, dark clothing.

During this period, the tanning bronzers will begin to look darker than your desired color. Do not panic and shower earlier than the discussed time! When you take the first shower, the bronzing makeup will wash off and a natural tan will be revealed underneath.

First shower for STANDARD solutions:

YOU CAN USE SOAP. Rinse very thoroughly, but gently. Use your hands to guide the bronzer off of your skin to prevent streaks. Water should run completely clear before you get out of the shower. After your first shower, you can resume your normal routine as usual (makeup, workouts, deodorant, etc).

First shower for EXPRESS solutions:

DO NOT USE SOAP. Rinse very thoroughly, but gently. Use your hands to guide the bronzer off of your skin to prevent streaks. Water should run completely clear before you get out of the shower. You will not look tan after the first shower. Do not panic, this is normal! Do not apply lotion and color will develop over the next 24 hours. Once desired color is achieved, begin moisturizing, typically this will be anywhere between 10-24 hours after first shower. We also suggest keeping excessive sweating to a minimum for 10-24 hours after your tan until color is achieved.
